Which is better, breast milk or milk? How much should I drink? Let's organize all the things about breastfeeding that are often surprisingly unclear.

When and how long do you breastfeed?

Babies cannot drink a lot of milk at once, so they must breastfeed in small or multiple portions.
As a guideline, 60-120ml is 7-8 times per month until the age of 1 month, 120-160ml is 5-6 times per month, and then 200ml is 5-5 times per month until the age of 1 year old. As you grow, your feeding amount increases, and on the other hand, the number of feeding decreases.

As there are individual differences, there is no need to worry if you can't finish the recommended amount for each age group. It's not a problem if you're slowly gaining weight and your baby seems to be in a good mood. If you are constipated or diarrhea, you may be feeding too little or too much, so please adjust it.

After about six months of age, baby food begins. Gradually, the ratio changes and you will graduate from milk at around 1 year old, but some children will take longer. Don't panic and switch easily at your own pace.

Is breast milk better?

Breast milk contains immune substances, which has the advantage of reducing the risk of babies getting infected. Furthermore, the ingredients in breast milk change as your baby grows, so you can get the nutrients you need at that time, making it safe.
Breastfeeding also has a pleasant effect on mothers' bodies. It is said that when a baby sucks on breasts, the hormone oxytocin is secreted, which causes the uterus to contract and quickly restore the postpartum body, which is also an advantage in that it reduces the hassle and cost of purchasing powdered milk, as well as reducing the amount of luggage you carry when you go out.

However, breast milk alone tends to lead to a lack of vitamin K and vitamin D, so it is necessary to supplement it with syrup or other products as appropriate.
One drawback is that you have to be careful about what you eat, such as things that mothers drink and eat, as breast milk affect the baby, and you need to avoid sugary foods and alcohol. Depending on how your baby sucks, nipple pain may occur, and teeth may cause wounds.
Another aspect of this can add to mothers, as they can only breastfeed, so they cannot be left to their dad or grandparents, and it is difficult to leave them to nursery schools, making it a burden that can be put on mothers.

Is milk more convenient?

The biggest benefit of raising milk is that you can clearly see how much you drink. You can check whether it is compared to the guideline for each age group, and if the amount is reduced from the usual amount, you may be able to notice changes in your physical condition more quickly. It also contains a lot of vitamin K and vitamins, which are often deficient in breast milk, so there is no need to replenish it.
Anyone can breastfeed, which also has the advantage of reducing the burden on mothers.

On the other hand, in addition to the cost of purchasing powdered milk, it also takes time and effort to clean and disinfect the baby bottle in addition to making milk. When going out, you will have to bring milk, a baby bottle, hot water, and other items, so one of the disadvantages is that you will have to carry more luggage.

Both breast milk and milk have pros and cons, and you can't give them any superiority or inferiority. There are many senior mothers who use breast milk and milk to mix and raise their children. Choose a method that's stress-free and suitable for your mother and her baby.

How to make milk?

In the disinfected baby bottle, accurately measure powdered milk using the included spoon. First add about half of the boiling water above 70°C, then shake the baby bottle and melt it well. Once the remaining hot water has been added and completely dissolved, apply running water to the baby bottle and allow it to cool to the point of human skin. The approximate is around 35 to 36°C.

The best water to use is tap water. If you have a water server, check in advance whether it can be used as baby's milk. Avoid high-hard mineral water and hydrogen water as they are not suitable for milk.

How do you give milk?

If you have breast milk, wash your hands and gently wipe the nipples and their surroundings with disinfectant cotton to prepare. Since babies cannot support their heads themselves, please support their heads as if they were held side by side. Once you have one hand supported the baby's head and body, hold the nipple with the other hand and put it in the baby's mouth. The trick is to infuse it deep enough so that the baby's tongue touches the base of the nipple so that it can suck well.
Make sure to suck on the left and right sides alternately, not just one side. Weighing before and after breastfeeding will help you know how much you drank.

When using a baby bottle, the method of feeding the baby is almost the same. Hold her side and place her nipples firmly in her mouth to make it easier to suck.

Once breastfeeding is complete, hold the baby up and lightly tap it on the back to burp. They also breathe in the air along with the milk, so if you don't burp and let them exhale, you may end up feeling sad and crying.

If it's difficult to hold one hand to breastfeed, we recommend a nursing cushion or hip seat.
The breastfeeding cushion is attached by inserting the mother's body into the C-shaped depression and placing the baby on it. The hip seat is a support item for holding a child while sitting, but if you place the baby's back from the waist, it can also be used to hold the baby side. Compared to breastfeeding cushions, it is less likely to sagg down and can support your baby's body well.
