Because it is something you use every day, it is prone to getting dirty, but since it is something you use for babies, you want to keep it clean. A thorough introduction to the care of baby carriers! Wash properly and use a baby carrier comfortably.

Do baby carriers need to be washed?

Baby carriers can inevitably get dirty due to baby sweat, drooling, and milk refills. Mom and Dad may sweat and may get on his shoulder or waist belt. It can also come into contact with your baby's skin, so wash it regularly to keep it clean.

Is it okay to wash it anyway?

Recently, many products are on sale that can be washed at home.
However, even if you can wash it completely, some products require hand washing and some products can be washed in the washing machine. If you wash it incorrectly, it may lead to loss of shape, so check the instruction manual or the manufacturer's website in advance.

How often should I wash it?

We recommend washing it once a month to keep it clean and comfortable. It would be ideal to wash it once every two weeks in the summer.
However, washing too often is not recommended as it may lead to fading or losing its shape. If it's a bit of dirt, it's safer to deal with it by lightly tapping it with a damp cloth or washing only the areas where it's a concern, while keeping the overall washing to about once every 2-4 weeks.

How to wash baby carriers

What do you need for washing?

When washing your baby carrier, use a neutral detergent. Although the cleansing power is milder than typical mild alkaline detergents, neutral detergents are less likely to fade and are gentle on the skin. Choose detergents that can be used safely even for babies with sensitive skin.
Also, if you wash by hand, you will need a larger washbasin or a tub, and if you use a washing machine, you will need a laundry net.

How to wash your hands

Put lukewarm water in a washbasin or tub that is large enough for the entire baby carrier to soak, dissolve the detergent well, and then leave the baby carrier soak for about 5 minutes. Gently press and wash it, and if there are any areas that are very dirty, use a knob to wash it.
Rinse thoroughly, changing the water several times, and then drain the water using a bath towel or something similar. If you are running a washing machine, please limit it to 30-40 seconds.

To wash in the washing machine

Secure all the buckles and place them in a laundry net. This is to prevent the buckle from getting caught or broken. Close all the zippers too.
Please select settings that can be gently washed with a weak water flow, such as a hand wash or a stylish clothing course.

What is the correct way to dry?

Hang in a well-ventilated shade. Direct sunlight is not allowed as it leads to fading of the fibers and deterioration of plastic parts such as buckles. To prevent it from losing its shape, adjust the shape and dry it so that it is evenly on the left and right sides.
Even if the product is machine washable, most products cannot be used with a dryer. Be sure to hang it to dry except for items that are clearly marked as dryer OK.
Thick fabrics such as shoulder straps are difficult to dry out, but if moisture remains, it can cause mold and cause hygienic problems. It is important to dry thoroughly until it is completely dry.

Daily care instructions

Although it can be washed at home, it takes half a day to dry. You should avoid unplanned washing as much as possible.
If it's light, you can remove it by simply wetting it and tapping it with a hard wrung towel. Even if it's severe, we recommend washing partially in a small area, as it takes less time to dry.
Since the area around your baby's face is the most likely to get dirty, one way to use a drooling cover and replace it frequently to keep it clean.

BABY&Me products come with belt covers, drooling covers, and sleeping hoods, as well as a wide range of designs for custom accessories. Not only can it be customised stylishly, it is also recommended for changing the product.

Can the hip seats be washed too?

Many commercially available hip seats and hip seat carriers can be washed with water.
However, inner materials such as styrofoam, urethane cushions, and metal or plastic frames cannot be washed, and are usually designed to be removed before washing. As they vary depending on the manufacturer and product, please check the washing instructions, instruction manual, and the manufacturer's website for details.

Things to note when washing your baby carrier

Don't use chlorine bleach as it will fade. If the dirt gets stained, use oxygen bleach for babies.
Even neutral detergents contain fluorescent brighteners. Check the ingredients and choose a detergent that does not contain fluorescent brighteners.
It is also important to dry it immediately after washing. If left wet, the fibers will become more susceptible to damage and cause mold and germs to grow.
