Babies spend much more time sleeping than adults. In order to help your baby sleep more comfortably and grow healthily, it is important to wear what you wear when you sleep.

What does sleep mean to babies?

It is often said that children who sleep grow up, but babies sleep a lot.
Although newborns wake up every 3 to 4 hours, their total sleep time is said to be about 15 to 18 hours. We spend 3/4 of the day sleeping.
It gradually becomes shorter as the baby grows, and although there are individual differences, it becomes around 13 hours at around 6 months of age, and around 11 to 12 hours at 1 year old. Gradually, you will be able to sleep in bulk at night, and your active time during the day will increase.

During sleep, growth hormone is secreted, and the mechanism that organizes and remembers what you see and experience while you are awake also works. Sleep is very important for healthy growth. I want to create an environment where they can sleep comfortably.

What should you wear when your baby sleeps?

When we think of what to wear to bed, we usually think of pajamas, but if your baby spends most of the day sleeping, what should you wear?

Baby pajamas are also available commercially. However, most of them are larger than 70-80 size. If your baby is smaller than that, baby clothes or underwear are fine. Choose natural materials that are soft and gentle on the skin.
When your child reaches a size of 70 to 80, or when they start getting up and doing more activities during the day, and are able to sleep all at once at night, this is a good time to start putting them in pajamas. The timing is probably around 3 to 6 months old.

Many older mothers say that when their babies were small, they did not separate sleeping clothes, so-called ``sleepwear,'' from loungewear. It seems that many older mothers start preparing and using different types of clothes, such as loungewear and clothes that can be worn straight out of the house, after the baby is 8 months old, when the baby is able to sit upright and become more active.

What temperature is comfortable for your baby?

It is said that the room temperature that babies feel comfortable in is around 20-25℃ in winter and 25-28℃ in summer. Since the ability to regulate body temperature is underdeveloped, it is important to keep the temperature of the baby's room at an appropriate temperature.
However, if mom, dad, and other family members are also in the same room, it may not always be possible to maintain the optimal room temperature for the baby. In that case, try adjusting your clothes and bedding.

Warm air tends to rise, and cold air tends to fall and accumulate at low levels. If your baby is sleeping on the floor, the temperature where the baby is placed may be different from what an adult feels. When checking the room temperature, be sure to measure it from where your baby is, not the temperature of the entire room.

What to wear in cold weather?

Wanting to keep your baby from getting cold is a sign of a parent's love for their child. Everyone must take precautions against the cold.
However, if you heat your skin too much more than necessary, you may actually lower your body temperature due to sweat and cause skin problems. It is important to dress according to the room temperature and keep it neither too hot nor too cold.

If the room temperature is around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius, dress your baby in pajamas or baby clothes with long sleeves and long pants over underwear. If it's around 20℃ or below, add a sleeper. A sleeper with a vest-like shape and function is convenient and easy to put on. They come in a variety of materials, ranging from thin ones to ones that can protect you from the cold, so it's a good idea to choose one depending on the temperature.

Is it OK to wear light clothes in hot weather?

If the temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius, short sleeves and shorts will be just right. If you get hot, just underwear and a diaper are fine. On the other hand, if you get cold, you may want to layer a thin sleeper made of gauze fabric. Temperatures above 28℃ are too hot, so please use an air conditioner to lower the room temperature.

On the other hand, what you need to be careful about is the over-effectiveness of the air conditioner. The temperature set on the remote control and the actual room temperature are not necessarily the same, and the temperature may be lower near the floor where the baby is. Babies who can't regulate their body temperature well will lose body heat if they stay in a room that's too cool, which can make them sick. Even though it's hot, be careful not to cool it down too much.
